Island of olives and honey

Explore Solta Island and its tradition of honey and olive oil production

Solta, "the island of olives" is one of the most beautiful in Croatia, known for its numerous bays, unspoiled environment, rocky coastline and charming rustic villages. With its 24 bays, Solta is the first port of call for a growing number of yachts and charter boats, while its pristine nature, spectacular beaches and rugged terrain draw legions of nature lovers from all over the world. For you, on our Secret Dalmatia Discover Solta Island, Šolta will be also an encounter with honey and olive oil production, and a great opportunity to learn by tasting!
Your guide will meet you at your hotel to escort you to the car, Land Rover Defender, and travel with you to Solta island on a local ferry. A 45-minute ride away, Solta has only a handful of villages, such as Grohote, in the center of the island, Maslinica and Stomorska, fishing villages, Necujam, a tourist village and Rogac, the main ferry port, but a large number of uninhabited bays, just ideal for a peaceful and private encounter with the true essence of the Adriatic.

Upon arriving to the island, you will first meet Mr. Kaštelanac for a personal tour of the Olynthia Olive Mill, where both traditional and modern techniques of production will be presented. Olynthia is known for its sustainable development efforts, and dedication to preserving the old traditions of olive planting and harvesting. You will have a chance to sample several different interesting Olynthia olive oils, including their signature flavored oils, such as lemon, rosemary, garlic, just to name a few.
Then, you will be a guest at the residence of the Tvrdic family, third generation beekeepers who will introduce to you the process of honey production, its varieties and flavors. After sampling their honeys, as an option, it is possible to visit the family beehives in the hill or to make you own honey! Here, you will also enjoy a home cooked Dalmatian meal, along with some great local wines, of course!

The time leftover to the ferry departure can be used to explore the island some more, to take a swim in the crystal clear Adriatic, or to enjoy another favorite local activity, having a cup of coffee in the village of Maslinica, overlooking the marina and the impressive Martinis Marchi castle.
As an optional extra, this program can be organized on a private boat or catamaran, as well start on the island of Solta.

Collection from your hotel or villa in Split region by our English speaking professional guide/driver, off road vehicle and guide for the duration, ferry tickets, olive oil tasting, honey tasting with visit to the bee hives in the hillside, home cooked lunch

In a bay on the west coast of the island, Maslinica is a lonely village in this area. Sheltered and well protected from the winds, its bay is a popular marina for yachts up to 35 meters. The views pass the marina are splendid – the open seas dotted by an archipelago of seven islets. On land, Martinis Marchi castle is incredibly significant for this place, marking its establishment by Marchi family, and certainly dominating the coastal landscape.
