Skradin is magical, nestling beneath the beautiful waterfalls at the mouth of the Krka River where it meets the sea..For more than 2,000 years it has entranced all who love beauty, music, nature and glorious wine and food! From traditional folk klapa singing that touches your heart to the roaring waterfalls of the Skradinski Buk, Skradin is a marvelous find. And so is their wine--more than 75 years ago a local vintage Bedrica here won the grand prix award in Toulouse, France, and was declared one of the six best wines in the world!). Complimenting their outstanding viniculture are numerous authentic and original dishes.Unique Skradin risotto definitely stands out as a labour of love taking over 12 hours to prepare! The countryside here is dotted with vineyards, each vine sitting in its own patch of fertile earth within a framework of stone walls covering the surrounding hills. One of the meccas for wine lovers the world over is the Bedrica family home which has one of the richest collections of original tools, machines and devices for the production of alcoholic beverages in Europe that has been collected and treasured for more than two hundred years.
Wine-tasting and the
gourmet dinner served in the cellars of the Bibic Winery has become the
signature event for lovers of fine wine and food in Croatia. The
vineyards are located in the rolling hills above historic Skradin and
Krka National Park in the bucolic village of Plastovo. Among the most
celebrated in the country, most of Bibic's limited production is sold
only in very select shops and served in the finest restaurants--the rest
is exported to the US and Europe. In addition to their award-winning
whites and reds, Bibic also produces exceptional brandies. After a tour
of the vineyards and cellars, you will be invited by owner Alen Bibic
and his wife Vesna to enjoy a 6-8 course wine-pairing gourmet dinner.
Each dish is visually stunning and a divinely delectable--individually
prepared and served on its own special china with a wine chosen
personally by Alen. Depending on the season, you'll enjoy tender
home-raised veal, free range ducks, pheasant and other poultry together
with a medley of organically grown vegetables and herbs from their
extensive gardens. This sublime experience ends with a fabulous desert
and brandy. After dinner you can browse the Bibic Winery shop to buy
not only their finest wine but Bibic first cold pressed olive oil and
other Dalmatian delicacies.
This program can be combined with a tour of Sibenik and it's UNESCO
World Heritage Site cathedral or with Skradin and Krka National Park.
Our Skradin Wine Tour will also visit the Gasperov cellar (optional extra) for a great wine tasting of the area’s most famous wine, Babic.We will also stop in at the famous Bucavac vineyard in Primošten - a monument of hard work in Dalmatia!
