Tours in Croatia by Secret Dalmatia

Split

The heart of the Croatian coast!

No longer discounted en route to the islands and coastal beaches, Croatia’s second largest city pulses as ancient and rustic meet fashionable and dynamic on its streets, among the extraordinary Roman ruins of the Emperor Diocletian’s Palace. Acclaimed for their laid-back attitudes and lifestyles, perhaps even more than elsewhere, the people here know how to enjoy. You’ll witness this in café bars on city piazzas and outdoor terraces along the seafront promenade Riva, during starlit summer events and on Split’s lively beaches. So much more than its walled palace, Split is a wonderful Mediterranean city offering a great balance of traditional and modern in its everyday whereabouts.

A unique, private Palace Tour especially created for travelers with disabilities.  Not only discover the living 1,700 year-old walled fortress/residence of the Emperor Diocletian, but enjoy a wonderful grilled lunch with the fish that we buy together at Split’s bustling fish market! This tour is specifically designed for travelers who are in a wheelchair, are visually/hearing impaired and need a personal assistant as well as a professionally-trained tour guide.

Meet the pioneer of contemporary Croatian winemakers, Alen Bibić. His name often comes attached to the famous regional white wine, Debit, that he himself brought back from the realm of table wines, adorning it with newfound respect. Alen obviously did something right when he revived his grandfather’s vineyards which were decimated during the 1990’s war, as his revolutionary blends soon made him the first Croatian winemaker to export to the US. His passion and knowledge on wine production, as well as the gourmet magic he creates in tandem with his wife Vesna, were recognized by Anthony Bourdain, resulting in Bibich and Skradin being featured as one of the Croatian highlights on the famous ‘No Reservations’.
