Tour description

Rarely can a historic city with such immense visual appeal as Dubrovnik offer visitors sights worth exploring outside of its historic center. However, this UNESCO World Heritage jewel is just a part of the most dramatic coastline boasting numerous wonderful spots and places to discover.

Experience all of the highlights of the Dubrovnik Riviera in a one day trip! We start in the Old Town with an hour long classic walking tour, seeing all the main sights before continuing to the top of Srđ hill with the cable car. Towering above the Old Town, this is the ideal spot for a spectacular panoramic view of the red rooftops and the surrounding islands, guaranteed to take your breath away.

Next, head east of majestic Dubrovnik to the furthest parts of Croatia before it meets the rugged coastline of Montenegro: the town of Cavtat and the Konavle valley. Cavtat's past, present and future are very closely tied to Dubrovnik's and this historically rich area is a delight - its old town is a warren of narrow streets and cobbled alleys and the serpentine waterfront promenade frames a picturesque harbor. Konavle valley, a collection of over 30 villages, is embraced by the southern mountains of Herzegovina and Montenegro, the same which had kept its traditions safe and secluded for centuries.

One of the most picturesque areas of the Croatian coast, Cavtat and Konavle are for sure a day trip filled with remarkable culture, amazing sceneries and an altogether perfect experience!

Cavtat

Modern-day Cavtat was once a Greek colony. Epidaurum, as it was called, was taken over by the Romans in 228 BC. They established their own colony here, and, naming it Epidaurus, invested into developing an important harbor at the completion of their trade route. During the Slavic and Avar raids of the 7th century, inhabitants fled Epidaurus and retreated to the ancient Illyrian hill forts in modern Župa Dubrovačka and beneath the Srđ hill where they participated in establishing a settlement called Ragusa. Today Ragusa is known worldwide as the beautiful city of Dubrovnik!
