Tour description

What you'll see on this tour

Today Kornati National Park occupies an area of about 220 km2 (54,000 acres). More than 140 islands, islets and reefs that sprawl over 238 km of coastline create the most indented group of islands in the Mediterranean! The land portion of Kornati National Park covers less than 1/4 of its total area but the sheer variety of its landscapes and magnificent cliffs that face the open sea have made it a magnet for naturalists, divers and photographers. The magnificent geomorphology of the Kornati sea bed attracts divers from all over Europe to enjoy unforgettable adventures.

A motor yacht day tour of the islands is a thrilling way to experience Kornati as you cruise under spectacular cliffs and around amazing moonscape islands. The journey starts from Zadar or Šibenik and takes you to all of the main sites of the northern part of the National Park: Proversa passage, Sestrice lighthouse, Tanjurić rock, cliffs of Mana island and the beautiful Lojena beach on Levrnaka Island. Then we head to a local tavern to enjoy some of Kornati’s fabulous seafood! Or lamb, that the islands are equally know for! For those who love the sea, motor yacht day tour is the best way to experience the essence of the Adriatic and to see as much of the archipelago as possible in one relaxing day.

The cliffs and walls of Kornati

The cliffs of Kornati are some of the most impressive and distinctive features that make this region so unique. Rising up to 80 meters, above ground and 100 meters underwater, the towering cliffs gave Kornati their name, stemming from the word corona or ‘crowns.’ Now entirely uninhabited, remains of civilizations sit as quiet reminders of settlements dating back to 1st century AD!  Remarkable stone walls buillt so solidly stretch over the hills and across the barren landscape, once used to divide land and contain livestock. Viewed from the sky, the patterns of the rock walls are an unreal feat of construction. Every year, the first Sunday in July the people of the island of Murter take part in a pilgrimage to the plain of Tarac and its fortress, once the center of life on Kornati. The stunning votive ship that takes part in the procession is truly a unique religious event in Croatian heritage and culture.
