Classic Walking Tour of Dubrovnik

Discover Splendours of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik has captivated kings and commoners alike for centuries! It's the quintessential walled city of legend—proud, grand, and ancient. With its signature red and orange clay rooftops and massive stone ramparts framed by the dazzling blue Adriatic, our original, classic walking tour of Dubrovnik is the ultimate treat for visitors who want to see beyond the obvious and explore the architecture and history of this fabled city. Join us as we discover Dubrovnik and its golden age.
Our discovery begins as we enter the Old Town through one of two main city gates. Along the way we will see St. Savior's church, the mystical Franciscan and the grandiose Dominican church, the Onofrio's fountain, bell tower, Old city harbor, and the Cathedral. Next we will admire one of the crown jewels of Dubrovnik, Knezev Dvor - the Rector's Palace, the most important building in the public life of the Dubrovnik Republic, the former house of Rector, the office of the government, the civic prison and a lively public square all at the same time. Today it is a city museum, recreating the room functions and holding many original works. If you are fortunate enough to be in Dubrovnik during its celebrated Dubrovnik Summer Festival, listening to a stunning classical concert in the Atrium of the Rector's Palace under an open sky is an unforgettable Dubrovnik experience.
One of the real highlights of our walking tour is the famous Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery (1317). Inside is a fascinating collection of decorated jars filled with ancient remedies; unique measurement devices, together with alembics and mortars. The Monastery, which also houses a museum with outstanding displays of sacral artefacts, was almost completely destroyed in the tragic earthquake of 1667, as well as severely damaged in the Homeland war in 1991.
Walking the walls of Dubrovnik is the most popular addition to the program as you get to experience all the grandeur of the Old Town from birds-eye perspective while savoring all the beauty of its surroundings!
OPTIONAL EXTRA: Include a private tour of Dubrovnik walls to your walking tour

Pick up at your hotel by our local expert guide, entrance tickets to two museums: Franciscan monastery and Rector's Palace

Walls of Dubrovnik

The most recognizable feature of Dubrovnik are its walls that run almost 2 km (1.2 mi) around the city. The walls run from four to six meters thick on the landward side but are much thinner on the seaward side. The system of turrets and towers were intended to protect the vulnerable city.
The most impressive tower of all is Minčeta Tower, or the Game of Thrones Tomb of the undying. Its present look, the eternal symbol of the unconquerable city of Dubrovnik, dates from the 15th century.
