Tour description

Meet your guide Domagoj and depart for the magical Dalmatian hinterland to enjoy a day of mountain biking through some of Croatia's most pristine nature. Delightfully unpopulated, the interior landscape that surrounds the Cetina river is a remarkably historic area with the layers of centuries, legends, myth and mystery hidden in the hills. Your route will follow the shores of Peruča Lake and through the Cetina river canyon that cuts through the foothills of the Dinaric Alps and Croatia’s highest mountain, arriving at the 'source of life' – the Cetina river spring. The Cetina river

River Cetina canyon is a mecca for outdoors adventures such as river rafting, fresh water kayaking, ziplining, canyoning, cycling and hiking. Equally exhilirating is the tumultuous and fascinating history of this region - centuries of rivalry, famously vicious pirates, maurauding Ottoman turks and the Illyrian tribes that once ruled the region. All the more reason why you should explore it! Finds from Neolithic times through the bronze ages, and the Middle Ages can be found in river canyon and ridges. The narrow passages in the canyon were a history making gateway and bridge that connected the important trade routes of the coast to the inland, empire to empire. Its strategic and pivotal position also made this region the heartland of the ancient Illyrian civilization that left behind their monumental fortresses and burial mounds. At the mouth of the river, the infamous Omiš pirates would lure passing merchant ships to pillage them of their cargo, and were some of the most feared pirates on the Adriatic Sea.
