The Island of Olives Sunset Tour

When: May to October
Duration: Evenings
From: Split
. Program can run from Trogir and Šibenik as well at extra cost for transfers

Solta, “the island of olives” is one of the most beautiful in Croatia, known for its numerous beautiful bays, unspoiled natural environment, rocky coastline and charming rustic villages.  Just 45 minutes from Split by ferry, Solta has only a handful of villages--Grohote, in the center of the island, Maslinica, a fishing village, Rogac, the main ferry port, Necujam, a tourist village and Stomorska, a fishing village.  But with its 24 bays Solta is the first port of call for a growing number of yachts and charter boats; while its pristine nature, spectacular rocky beaches and rugged terrain draw legions of nature lovers from all over the world. Although there are far less olive trees than there were centuries ago, the island is still considered by many to produce Croatia’s finest olive oil.

Our tour begins at 6PM where our private launch will be waiting at the Split harbor front for a quick 30 minute voyage to Stomorska.  Meeting us there will be our hosts from Solta’s award-winning olive oil producer, Olynthia Natura.  First, we’ll go to their olive groves and learn about why such an unassuming tree has symbolized power, wealth, victory and peace for so many thousands of years.  Then we will take a short scenic drive to one of Solta’s many hilltop viewpoints for a breathtaking sunset view of the sea and outlying islands, with time to pick some wild herbs, like rosemary, which grow here and all over the island.  Next, we will be taken to the Olynthia Natura mill for a private tour and dinner with the owner, France Castelanac.  After a welcome drink, short color slide presentation and olive oil tasting, we’ll enjoy a wonderful Dalmatian dinner with wine. And for those who would like a glorious evening swim, we will take you to a private swimming area (changing booths provided!).  At 11PM we’ll be back on board our private boat for our return trip. At the dock, taxis will be waiting to take you to your hotel or apartment...
