Secret Dalmatia Konavle Wine Trail

When: Year Round
Duration: Half day
From: Dubrovnik area, Korčula (at extra cost for transfer)

The fertile green Konavle Valley, connecting Gornja Banda and Donja Banda, is covered with vineyards and orchards. On this tour, we’ve chosen Ćilipi to taste the famous wines made at the Dubrovački Podrumi winery. Winegrowing has always been a fundamental part of Konavle's agrarian economy. Even back in the times of the Dubrovnik Republic, great attention was dedicated to the autochthonous variety of Malvasia. Today, the renaissance continues with many plantations renewing the cultivation of this historically valuable varietal in the vineyards of Konavle.

The Dubrovački Podrumi vineyard dates back to 1876. It’s well-respected for high quality white and rosé, such as Ragusa, the semi-dry Kadarun, and full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot reds. After a picturesque drive through the countryside, we’ll arrive at the village of Komaji for a visit to the local vineyard and winery owned by the Crvik Family. Very much off the beaten path, the vineyard is nestled in a little vale among a densely forested area. Here, in sharp contrast to the rugged rocky outcrops that dominate this part of the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, Crvik grows two hectares of exceptional grapes. A unique opportunity awaits us here to taste some of the finest wines from this region and meet Andro Crvik. Listening to Andro talk about his wines and wine producing in this area of Croatia is a real pleasure.

Like most wineries, Crvik uses other grapes from the Konavle region to meet his 100,000 liter a year production. All of it is put up in barrel-aged oak from Slavonia, the top, eastern-most region of Croatia. Our leisurely tour ends in a local tavern where you will be treated like family enjoying some of the areas best traditional dishes!
